Five things in my January makeup bag

I’ve been working on some ideas for my blog for a while now as I really want 2018 to be a V productive and V successful year for it! I’ve decided to turn my "Five things in my December makeup bag" post (read it Here) into a monthly series (“Five Things in My Makeup Bag”). I find it SO helpful to focus on using some makeup items more than others in the month as A) I might be trying to work on finishing a product or B) I might just be SO excited to use one that month! I also love reading other people’s posts about this as you get to see people’s go to’s and seasonal faves!

To start I have the Complexion Rescue by Bareminerals. This product is described as a tinted hydrating gel cream and I picked it up in the shade Vanilla. I recently ran out of my Maybelline BB cream and I was looking for a new BB cream. I tried this one as I have always wanted to try something out from Bare Minerals and it was highly recommended to me by an Ulta employee. So far I can say it’s V cooling when you first apply it (which I’m hoping will be a plus for my sensitive skin!) and it’s a light/ light medium coverage. It evens my skin tone but I do reach for a concealer for additional coverage. I’m planning on doing a full review on this in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for that.

Next is the Stila Shape and Shade Custom Contour Duo in the shade light. This is a cream contour and highlight duo and I was able to pick it up V discounted recently. This has become an everyday essential for me as it’s such a pigmented and blendable formula. Use it sparingly, that’s my rule for success with this product! I like a more natural countour and this blends out seamlessly. Colorwise it really works well as it’s got that perfect touch of cool tone to look like a natural shadow. I also love a bit of extra hydration in winter so a BB cream and cream contour seem ever so appropriate!

For eyes I have two picks. The first should be VERY shocking for anyone who’s read my blog for a while. I have finally bought a new mascara since the L’Oreal Lash Paradise (read about how much I love that one Here, or Here) which I have been using since it released in July. I still love it but it was more than time for a change and I picked up the Essence Volume Stylist mascara. It is supposed to wear 18 hours and have lengthening fibers! So far (as this is also quite new to me this month) it is very lengthening and it’s a true dramatic black. I almost always go for volumizing mascara but I decided to switch it up so I’ll make sure to post an update later on as it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G for lengthening! Next is a switch up to an old fave for brows. I’ve come back to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in the shade dark brown. This powder is so easy and quick to apply! I love the two colors and I get a natural but defined brow so easily with this!

Lastly for lips is a not so surprising switch! It’s another brown lipstick (my dark makeup obsession). I used up my old favorite brown liquid lipstick form Jouer in the shade Noisette (which I’ll link below as I do really love it! And I think the Jouer formula is more than incredible!) and I’ve had to make a switch to my Colour Pop Ultra Matte lipstick in Beeper. This lipstick is a darker cool brown shade (noisette is a more milk chocolate brown) but for darker, snowier, rainier, and more moody months I find that a dark brown nude is perfect for me.
